Q: What is a Board Certified Veterinary Specialist?
A: In addition to completing undergraduate training and four years of veterinary school, Board Certified Veterinary Specialists have completed additional training per the requirements of a specialty veterinary board. This may consist of an internship and residency in their specialized field (an additional 3-5 years training), research, publishing and caseload requirements depending on the board specialty area.
